Larry Marinel & Johanna Foster (cowboy poets) - Sunday 8/13/2023 - 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. - Silver Saddle Ranch
Jo and Larry are outdoor enthusiasts with a love for Nevada, and Cowboy Poetry.
The Cowboy Gathering in Elko is a favorite destination for inspiration and entertainment. Jo
Foster is a newly-minted cowboy poet. In 2016, she retired as an ecology professor from
Wartburg College, located in Waverly, Iowa. However, her heart called her back to Nevada
where her family lived since 1969. She and her husband Larry became fans of cowboy poetry
at their introduction to this genre in Elko, NV. After seeing how much fun Larry had
creating his poems, she decided to join in too.

Sagebrush Rebels - Sunday 8/13/2023 - 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. - Silver Saddle Ranch
The Sagebrush Rebels band rebelled in fall of 2015. The rebellion was born with
gusto! This six-piece band - fortified with fiddle, pedal steel, and fat harmonies - kicks
it from classic to contemporary country hits. Bandleader Cherie Shipley, lead vocalist, is a
well-known singer/entertainer in the Reno, Carson, and Lake Tahoe areas. Other band members
include Nancy Barker on keys, Curt Lee on guitar, Tommy Stiles on pedal steel,
Lolli Jones (or Catherine Matovich) on fiddle, and Bill Heise on drums.
