The Jazz Catz - Northern Nevada's Big Band Combo. The Jazz Catz play a number of different styles
of jazz music and is made up of a number of local professional musicians. The exciting
sounds of a tight and energetic Big Band.
Performers are: Bob Souter, trumpet; Brant Luevano, Trombone; Frank Benvenuto, Sax;
Vernon Scarbourgh, sax; Evan Reese, bass; Brandon Dodge, Drums; and June Joplin, Vocals.

Juliana Carmona Quartet - Tues., 8/18/2026 - 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. - Comma Courtyard,
312 S. Carson Street
Join the Juliana Carmona Quartet for a lively and intimate afternoon of vocal
jazz on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at Comma Courtyard. The band includes
Juliana Carmona on vocals, Angelo Monroy on keyboard, Val Collins on drums, and Insun
Blemel on bass. All members are performing musicians local to the Reno area.
Juliana Carmona formed this new quartet with longtime friends and colleagues, who
all share a deep love for this musical tradition and hope to share their own fresh
renditions and arrangements of both standards and contemporary/popular music.
Performers are: Juliana Carmona, vocals; Angelo Monroy, keyboard;
Val Collins, drums; and Insun Blemel, bass.

No Comprende - Tues., 8/18/2026 - 7:00 tp 9:00 p.m. - Bob McFadden Plaza Stage, S. Carson St. between
2nd and 4th Streets
No Comprende is a lively 6-piece Latin-jazz band that has been performing
in the Reno-Tahoe area since 1991. No Comprende played at Reno's SCAT Jazz Festival
in 1994 and 1995, the High Desert Jazz Festival in Carson City, Lake Tahoe's West Shore
Jazz Festival, Ahora Newspaper's Latin Jazz and Salsa Music Festival, and FTLOJ's
Jazz At the Sands Poolside Series.
Musical director and bassist Hans Halt has extensive experience playing with many Bay Area
salsa and Latin-jazz groups, including Pete and Sheila Escovedo, Conjunto Cespedes, and
several members of the Latin-rock band Santana.
No Comprende blends lively Afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz harmony to craft an
energetic sound that's enjoyable to listen to and dance to.
Performers are: Eric Middleton, vibes and percussion;
Dallas Smith, flute and sax; Kris Landrum, keyboard; Eric Finkelstein, drums; and Chance Utter, congas.
Seating is limited - bring chairs.
