Niall McGuiness & the New World Jazz Project - Friday 8/18/2023 - 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. -
Bliss Mansion, 608 Elizabeth St. - bring lawn chairs
Featuring saxophone, flute, percussion, piano, bass and drums, New World Jazz Project
performs groove-oriented original compositions and nouveau arrangements of American standards in
styles ranging from adult contemporary to bebop and beyond. Led by Niall McGuinness, New World
Jazz Project features some of the best players in the Reno/Tahoe area, delivering their soulful
sound on a backdrop of Latin and Afro-jazz rhythms.
Cutting his Latin jazz teeth in Miami, Florida, Niall graduated from University of Miami's
School of Music, immersing himself in the rhythms and sounds of Afro-Cuban music; his ample
use of many hand percussion instruments is a reflection of that strong cultural influence.
The New World Jazz Project continues to carry the banner of America's indigenous
and ever-evolving musical art form through their many recordings, some tunes of which have
recently been placed on national television and film. Niall McGuinness and New World Jazz
Project beckon you to join them on their musical journey.
Performers:
Niall McGuinness - saxophones, flute, percussion;
Peter Supersano - piano;
Lucas Arizu - guitar;
Scot Marshall - bass; and
Neil Strocchio - drums.
